Bethel Superintendent Search:
Survey & Focus Groups
2/10/26 - Update from Board of Education Chair, Scott Clayton
Dear Bethel Parents, Residents and Staff Members,
I am writing to provide an update on the search for a new Superintendent of Schools.
Over the last several weeks the Board’s search consultant, Dr. Mary Broderick from the CT Association of Board’s of Education (CABE) held meetings with teachers, staff, parents, students, Board of Education members, and community leaders to gather input on the qualities stakeholders would like to see in the district’s next leader. A total of 238 people including parents, teachers, administrators, community residents, and town business leaders completed the online survey. The feedback collected through this engagement process was used to develop a comprehensive Leadership Profile that will guide the recruitment and evaluation of candidates for Superintendent of Bethel Public Schools.
On February 12, Dr. Broderick will present the Leadership Profile to the Board of Education during a special meeting at the Municipal Center at 7:00PM. The job description has been posted on the CABE website as well as in other publications.
The next step following the review of the Leadership Profile is for the Board of Education to match the applicant pool with candidates who best align with the characteristics identified in the profile. This will occur at the end of February. Interviews will likely take place in March with an expectation that a new Superintendent will be named in early April.
Thank you for your continued engagement and support.
Sincerely,
Scott Clayton
Chairman, Bethel Board of Education
