Requirements for this project:
Students must:
● Locate and acquire two similar mechanical products (ie: product should have same function but may be different brands or generations)
● Research the products to learn about how they were developed
● Disassemble both products in order to learn how the components work together.
● Use photography or detailed drawings of assembled and disassembled products to show the components and connections.
● Write a report to share new learning.
● Create a presentation about the product that demonstrates a thorough understanding of its function and the cause and effect relationships within the product.
Important Guidelines for Engineers:
● mechanical or electrical in nature, contain several major components, and are made from a variety of materials
● a real world item who’s operation is not generally well understood
● reasonable and allows for disassembly to adequate levels
● operation of assembled unit can be fully explained
● able to be safely disassembled to represent all components
● components can described and explained adequately, materials are identifiable
