Smart phones, self driving cars, 3D printers, wearable technologies... high tech, low tech.... inventions make our lives better, safer, more fun and more interesting.

The Invention Project is your opportunity to solve a problem by following the same steps and procedures that an inventor would follow in developing an invention. Once you identify a need or a problem, you will use your problem-solving and creative-thinking skills to invent a product or process that would fill the need or overcome the problem.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE INVENTION PROJECT

Students must:

• Create an invention that solves a specific problem.

• Research products and processes already available that meet a need or serve a similar function.

• Write a report that details your invention process

• Create a model, ‘mock-up’ or prototype construction (can not cost more than $25)

• Create a presentation using visual aids and appropriate technologies that demonstrates a thorough understanding of the problem and your proposed solution / product.
