Summer reading overview:
This is the website for rising 7th and 8th graders at BMS. If you are an incoming 6th grader, you have a different book- this site is not for you.
You have to read one book of your choice this summer. The book needs to be fiction and should be middle grade level or above. You need to complete a theme tracker as you read your book this summer. We encourage you to read more than one book of course!
You can read any fiction book you like! It should be at least middle grades level, so that you are challenging your brain. Think of reading as food for your brain.
Here are some lists of books that you might like. These are just suggestions- it is not required to pick from these lists. Take some time to browse the lists, and maybe you will find a new author or book series to enjoy!
We are Teachers summer reading list- has a middle grades page and a graphic novel page of great choices.
Nutmeg Nominees- the Nutmegs are a CT book award voted on by librarians, teachers, and students. The middle grades nominees start on page 4- and there is the same flyer translated into Spanish and Portuguese on pages 5 and 6. Check out pages 4-9!

Scholastic has a list of book trailers (all levels, so make sure you're browsing middle grades or above) that you can watch to find your next read!
