This 3 hour class for school counselors, social workers and therapists who work with children and teens will learn, study, and review the various symptoms of anxiety and how the polyvagal theory plays an integral role in determining the appropriate mechanisms for developing coping skills. Strategies will be developed relative to activities that will assist participants on how and what skills are appropriate.

Identify and define the symptoms of anxiety as designated by the DSM-5-TR™.
Study and analyze data relative to the changes in children’s mental health, pre and post pandemic.
Review the 2019 study on the resilience of the brain to trauma and/or resilience in general, and its impact on best clinical practices.
Study and explore the polyvagal theory and develop strategies for choosing appropriate coping skills for positive outcomes.
Identify and develop several coping strategies for anxiety.

This 3 hour class for school counselors, social workers and school based therapists who work with children and teens. Participants will learn the benefits of using the sandtray and how it can encourage even the most resistant child to open up. Sandtray Therapy is also great for those that work with children who need sensory stimulation. This training will focus on the history, concepts and materials needed to implement sandtray in your practice.

Present and explain the history and theoretical origin of sandplay.
Identify the materials used for sandtray play including container types, sand options and miniatures.
Examine common themes in sandtray play that may surface and how to explain those themes to parents.
Learn the basic sandtray protocol to help guide the process and practice this process in class.

This 3 hour play therapy class is designed to teach and train school counselors, social workers, and school based therapists who work with grades PreK-3. CCPT is an age appropriate therapy that can work wonders in a school setting for kids that need a space to express their emotions and struggles through play. Participants will learn how to facilitate a play session interacting with children in their language of play.

Present and explain the history and evolution of play therapy.
Determine toys, games and materials that can be used in a playroom, small office or even for those that travel to different schools.
Learn to recognize themes in play and how to discuss those themes with parents.
