BEHS Esports

Description

BEHS Esports is the official video gaming team at Box Elder High School. It is both a social club and a competitive team. Our Esports team plays in three leagues: The Ken Garff Esports league in the Fall, the state sanctioned UHSAA league in the Winter/Spring, and the USAEL Open league year round. Below are the five games that we currently run with BEHS Esports.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Nintendo Switch's flagship kart racing game. Players compete in teams of four against other teams. This title is offered during our Fall (KGE) and Winter/Spring (UHSAA) seasons.

Rated E for Everyone

Rocket League

Action-racing game in which players play soccer with cars. Playable on multiple platforms. Teams consist of three players. This title is offered during our Fall (KGE) and Winter/Spring (UHSAA) seasons.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Nintendo Switch's crossover fighting game. Follows a 1 v 1 player format on teams of three for competitions. This title is offered during our Fall (KGE) and Winter/Spring (UHSAA) seasons.

Rated E10 (Everyone 10+)

Marvel Rivals

Third-person, team-based hero shooter played on PC. Competitions consist of teams of six players. This title is played through the USAEL open league only during the Fall season (not sanctioned).

Valorant

First-person, team-based shooter played on PC. Competitions consist of teams of five players. This title is played through the USAEL open league only during the Spring season (not sanctioned).

Player Requirements and Expectations

We are looking for dedicated players who are willing to put in the time to practice and improve their gaming skills. Players are NOT expected to already have professional-level skill sets. They just need to be willing to get better with time and practice.

Good sportsmanship is one of our team's greatest values. Poor behavior or language when losing or winning will not be tolerated. Players are expected to have good hygiene and work well with teammates. To participate in BEHS Esports, students are also required to maintin a 2.0 GPA with no current F's or U's.

All of our players are required to purchase a Box Elder Esports team jersey and pay the equipment replacement fee. However, both of these fees only need to be paid once for the school year. The amounts for these fees are listed below.

Jerseys: $45 ($30 for players)
Equipment Replacement: $15
Banquet fee: $5

We are partnering with Ken Garff Esports to help players pay these expenses. With this financial assistance, players will only pay $30 for a jersey. If a player already has a Box Elder Esports jersey from previous years, they do NOT need to purchase another one.

Pending additional fees may be added for the UHSAA season. Once that is determined, they will be added to the list above.

KGE Season (Fall)

September 8th: Esports Intro Team Meeting at 2:20 PM in BEHS Room P-3.
September 9th: Begin weekly Esports practices:
-Mondays through Thursdays, 2:20 PM - 3:20 PM in BEHS Room B-1.
September 15th-17th: Tryouts for the KGE Season for every title from 2:20-4:00.

September 21st: KGE regular season begins with weekly matches at 3:30 PM in Room B-1.

November 16th: KGE Season playoffs begin.

December 8th-10th: Tryouts for the UHSAA Season for every title from 2:20-4:00.

January 4th-15th: UHSAA Pre-Season. Practices and matches resume
-Valorant replaces the Marvel Rivals practice and matches slots.
January 18th: UHSAA Regular Season begins.
March 15th: UHSAA Season playoffs begin.
May 5th: Esports Awards Ceremony at the USU-Brigham City Extension at 6:00 PM.
