Dear Band Friends and Families,
“Coming together is the beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” ―Henry Ford
It is great to be able to come together again after such a long hiatus between band performances (679 days)! In some ways it feels like a new beginning, especially since this is the first performance for our freshmen and sophomores as RHS students. We can also take this opportunity to welcome our new principal, Dr. Russell Lazovick, to his first RHS band concert. His enthusiasm for the arts is much appreciated!
After all that has transpired over the past two years, music has been the unifying element that has kept our students together. We have been sustained by the belief that music ensembles are inherently good for young people because they provide an element of unity, and a way to engage the mind in a way that requires rigor and discipline. The idea of working together extends beyond the students. It is the teamwork between many different groups that provides the support structure for the band program. Encouragement from parents, local private music teachers, and the efforts of district administration music staff all contribute to the success of each student and the band program overall. THANK YOU!
Our two goals for this year are to enjoy every moment, and prepare for the future. So far, accomplishing goal #1 has been easy...These students have been AMAZING to work with! Building for the future will be up to all of us to work together as a team so that we can continue to provide the opportunities we have and achieve success in music as individuals and as a program. We are looking forward to working with everyone to continue the Ridge Bands tradition of excellence!
Many thanks to:
Our colleagues Jen Curran & Carol Beadle at the high school.
District band program staff Kate Whitley & Nicole Ferguson at the elementary schools, and Danielle Plagge & Wyman Wong at the middle school.
Dallas Harvey for stage setup, lighting, sound, and live stream.
Michael Fackelman, district administration, and the Bernards Township BOE.
Our family, friends, and mentors who have supported us and helped shape who we are today.
And of course our students, especially our seniors! Thanks for sticking with us!
Thank you and Happy Holidays!
Mr. Zugale and Mr. Beyert
