This fall, Bard College Berlin is happy to introduce its Immediate Decision Plan (IDP) for students interested in Art and Humanities.
This option allows students to apply to college face-to-face, through an in-person event in Brooklyn, NY, which will give them the chance to experience a class taught by BCB professors, meet the directors of the Arts program, as well as interview in person. Students will receive their final admission decision the following business day.

The Immediate Decision Plan is a hands-on, in-person application path that allows student to receive their college admission decision one business day after attending an admissions event in New York City. This event will be split into two parts: a class with a BCB professor and an individual interview. The goal of this plan is to allow students in the arts and the humanities the chance to experience a BCB class, as well as the opportunity to show and discuss their artwork or discuss their academic passions with the BCB Professor and Admissions Counselor who will make their admission decision. Each student will be evaluated on their submitted application, as well as their participation throughout the day of the event. They will receive their formal decision the following Monday, and will have until May 1st, 2026 to accept their offer if admitted.
Students who opt for the IDP plan will have the chance to interact face-to-face with the people who are making their admission decision; including the directors of the Arts program at Bard College Berlin. Art students will have the additional opportunity to present their artistic work in person and discuss their application. They will also get an early taste of BCB-style classes and will know their admission decision by November 10th.
Students who register to apply with IDP must submit an application by November 1 for the Early Action application round. Registration for IDP closes on October 25th, one week prior to the EA Application deadline, although students are encouraged to register as early as possible. After they submit their applications, students will attend an event at the Bard campus in Brooklyn, on Saturday, November 8th. They will receive their admission decision on November 10th.
Students who register to apply using IDP must complete all application requirements for the Early Action round, including (for APS applicants) submitting samples of their artistic practice. They must register for IDP by October 25th at the latest, however they are encouraged to register earlier. Students should prepare for the November 8th event per instructions, which will be emailed out after registration. If you intend to apply via IDP, there is no need to schedule an interview with BCB.
IDP is an option for any Early Action (November 1st) applicant to the Artistic Practice and Society Program or the Humanities, the Arts, and Social Thought Program, who is able to attend an in-person, all-day event in Brooklyn on the 8th of November.
