AI is already part of students’ lives, but appropriate use can look very different in elementary, middle, and high school. In this interactive session, school librarians will get a quick grounding in how generative AI works, explore age-appropriate approaches to AI literacy, and consider when AI may support learning, when it may interfere with it, and when students may be better off without it.
We’ll try a conversational “20 Questions” approach to reader’s advisory and look at practical concerns including accuracy, privacy, critical thinking, and AI-generated content. Participants will leave with concrete ideas for helping students understand AI, question what it gives them, and make thoughtful choices about whether and how to use it.
