This year, the Sounding Club has been restructured to be a student-led club that showcases student arts. This year, the Soundings magazine has transformed into a student-run club. The founding members of the club are three eighth-graders: Megan (Editor-in-Chief), Riley (Art Department Director), and Anna (Director of Communications). The club also includes seventh-graders who are divided into different departments of Soundings, including Art, Writing, and Communications. The club meets every Thursday during lunch with Ms. Pendleton to evaluate and work on the Soundings magazine.
All students are automatically in the Writing Department, and they can choose to join one other department or remain in writing. The Communications Department is responsible for making convocation announcements with the Editor-in-Chief, as well as interviewing people. In the Art Department, students are in charge of creating any art-related activities. For instance, people in the art division are responsible for creating the background and page format for the Soundings magazine. They are also responsible for creating any presentational slide shows that the communication division might need.
The team discusses and debates how the Soundings magazine should be handled. With guidance from Ms. Pendleton, the Soundings magazine works smoothly and efficiently. Soon, you will be able to view their Fall and Winter Edition magazine, which will be published right before winter break. For the first time, Soundings will release two editions, one for each semester, featuring work by Middle Division students.
