Two years ago, our old lives were relinquished.
As we all headed to school, elementary was finished.
Middle Division, we’re no longer in Lower.
Now upon the next step of the school ladder
In Sixth grade, we were stunned,
But soon met new people and had a lot of fun.
Not many worries along the way
Only some homework to turn in each day
By the time the exams rolled around,
We could not believe the end had come.
It went by so quickly.
Did my eyes try to trick me?
One year ago, we stumbled back into Middle.
Have we grown taller? Maybe a little
Seventh Grade, why so much grammar?
I think I’m filling up my planner.
Everything else is mostly the same.
A few new teachers and a couple new names.
Tests and quizzes are given about every week.
No problem, we’re used to this
This is how it goes, day by day
Don’t notice much until…Hey!
Finals are almost here.
Is it really the end of the year?
Four months ago, we looked at each other
Yes, we’re still in Middle, but things are tougher
We started the year a little differently
But everyone hasn’t changed significantly
There’s more homework, less time to breathe
And we even have to write a speech!
But this is our last year.
So we must hold it dear.
Are we going to take it for granted?
Like how the last two years ended?
We must treasure every moment.
No time for being despondent.
Enjoy the games at Halloween.
And every single moment between
Already, Midterms are coming.
And soon, 2024 will be up and running.
The year will rush by like a fire ablaze-
But as for now, Happy Holidays!
