Lurking in a forgotten part of the world, the Cult of the Dragon has chosen its new leader. Severin Silrajin, a Calishite, believes that living dragons should keep the power instead of the dead ones, an idea that opposes the cult’s history. Tiamat, the dragon queen, is watching from her prison in the Nine Hells. Amused, she reveals the existence of five dragon masks to Severin. Each of these masks represents a chromatic dragon color, and they aren’t just some regular masks. When the user puts on the mask, they are able to communicate with the dragons, think like a dragon, gain favor among dragons, and influence their behavior subtly. If all five of these ancient masks are brought together, they merge to form the mask of the dragon queen and free Tiamat from her prison. As soon as Severin finds out about this, he instantly dedicates the cult to finding the five masks. He was able to recover the red mask and became the first wyrmspeaker, a person who has the abilities listed above.
This is the world of Dungeons & Dragons (DnD). DnD is a very complex game with many different classes, backgrounds, domains, tools, and even their own gods. Each member in the DnD club has made their own character, except for the Dungeon Masters Tyler A ‘27 and Westley K ‘27. The Dungeon Masters control the world of DnD. This includes monsters, nonplayer characters, and many other things. Each character is completely creative in what they can do. Each character has a class, race, and background, which determine what the characters can do, and their stats.
There are six stats, Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma. Strength is physical strength, while Dexterity is how nimble, fast, and acrobatic characters can be. Although Intelligence and Wisdom sound the same, they are actually completely different. Intelligence is book smarts, like recalling historical facts, while Wisdom is street smarts, like taming an animal. Constitution is how tough a character can be. The last stat, Charisma, is all about using your looks and words to convince or deceive people. These stats control how you play the game. However, there is more to the game than what is on the paper. In DnD, characters act out their characters and what they would do. This is also called roleplaying. Roleplaying is essential to DnD, as it helps players get invested in the game, and it is also very fun.
If you want to join the DnD club, ask the club leaders Tyler A ‘27 or Wesley K ‘27. The club takes place on Mondays during lunch in Ms. Behrens's office. Have fun in your quest throughout the Dungeons and Dragons world!
