As you can all imagine, creating a Distance Learning plan to meet the needs of our students is challenging. One of the biggest challenges is how we can build relationships with students to support them and their learning during Distance Learning. In order to do so, the first two weeks of school will have a different format, allowing teachers to meet with students and families.
The following is the outline of the first two weeks of school.
9:00 - 9:30am - Class Meeting - Every Day: Please Visit the Teacher Zoom Links on the BAM Distance Learning Home Page
Teachers will assign work during the class meeting for students to do independently. The assignment will be shared and discussed at the following class meeting. This work will consist of reading, writing, school preparation, or an activity related to preparing for the school year.
Work will be provided as a “Menu” of lessons to be completed.
Elementary Activities provided by BUSD
Suggested Time - 60 minutes
On either Seesaw (TK-2) or Google Classroom (3-5), teachers will share a link to online activities, created by BUSD staff. There are three levels to each activity, allowing for students to work at their own pace. This lesson can be done at a time convenient to the family.
Technology lesson/instruction assigned by teacher
Suggested Time - 15-30 minutes
Students will receive a technology lesson each day to help their work with distance learning. The link for this will also be on Seesaw or Google Classroom, depending upon your child’s grade level.
Homework to be shared during class meetings
Suggested Time - 30-60 minutes
Homework will be assigned each day by the classroom teacher. Homework will consist of reading and other work related to the class meetings.
