With Lorena Oropeza as the faculty lead, the Berkeley Faculty Writing Collective started in 2025 with the goal to support faculty writing productivity, professional development, and cross-campus connection. Both the retreats and semester-long cohorts have seen strong demand and impact. Participants report very high satisfaction and meaningful writing progress, with many noting that the retreats are one of the most effective forms of faculty research support they have experienced.

The Berkeley Faculty Writing Collective is a project within ARCS (Academic Advancement, Recruitment, and Career Success), a campus-wide suite of initiatives focused on improving faculty support structures.
