Remember that the "TP" fractions contain a stock solution of the triphenylphosphine oxide side product, not your desired product.

Examine the TLC results again before making a new selection:

UV light

The photo shows two thin layer chromatography plates, illuminated bright green by UV light. Each plate has four lane markings on it. The lanes on the first plate are labeled, from left to right: TP, 1, 2, 3. The lanes on the second plate are labeled, from left to right: TP, 4, 5, 6. The two TP lanes each contain a single light gray, vertical oval-shaped spot a short distance above the spotting line. Lanes 1 and 2 contain larger, darker, rounder spots approximately halfway between the spotting line and the solvent front line. Lanes 3, 4, 5, and 6 each contain two spots, one resembling the smaller lighter gray spot from the TP lanes and one resembling the larger darker gray spot from lanes 1 and 2.

The photo shows two thin layer chromatography plates, stained off white. The spots visible in the UV visualized photo have been circled in pencil. The spots closer to the spotting line in lanes TP, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are stained dark brown in this photo. A ruler also visible in the photo, with its 0 cm marking aligned with the spotting line, reveals that these dark brown spots are approximately 0.5 cm from the spotting line. The spots farther down the plate in lanes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are stained a light yellowish brown in this photo. We see from the ruler that these lighter spots appear approximately 2.2 cm from the spotting line.
