Sociolinguist

I am a linguistic researcher, focused on speech variation and human-computer interactions. My research interests are focused on sociophonetic variation, bilingualism, pedagogy, language ideologies, and interactions in AI-mediated contexts. I am particularly interested in working in contexts of historically marginalized and understudied varieties of language in the U.S., to (1) better understand the link between language use and social interactions from a critical perspective, (2) bring further recognition of the rich linguistic practices of underrepresented populations, and (3) help improve speech technology to be more inclusive and human-centered.
