Tianchang Liu

Postdoctoral Researcher

Education

Research
Tianchang studies the activation of Si−Cl bonds in chlorosilanes.

Biography
Tianchang was born in Shandong, China. He attended Nankai University for undergraduate studies, where he gained experience in transition metal catalysis, including internal olefin functionalization with Prof. Mengchun Ye, and ring-opening polymerization of cyclic esters with Prof. Paula Diaconescu at UCLA during an internship. Deeply interested in transition metal chemistry, he then pursued Ph.D. studies with Prof. Neil Tomson on macrocyclic diiron complexes-mediated small molecule activation at UPenn. Further intrigued by the fascinating silicon chemistry, He joined the Tilley group as a postdoctoral researcher and studies the activation of chlorosilanes.
