Designed by Professor Scott Moura the Maker Design Studio (MDS) is a 22-hour intensive short-course for incoming Berkeley Engineering freshman & transfer students. MDS teaches students to rapidly ideate, design and prototype innovative engineering systems. To this end, we use the “Sprint" design process recently popularized within the start-up community. Students will present their projects at the PREP/T-PREP Maker Design Studio Expo on Friday, July 31, 2026.
Professor Moura was a participant in the PREP program (then named Bootcamp) as a first year engineering student at UC Berkeley.
