T-PREP began in the summer of 2013 and was designed by Associate Director of Engineering Excellence Programs Tiffany Reardon.
There are very few programs like T-PREP which specifically serves incoming engineering transfer students from community colleges. T-PREP began with just 30 students and now the program has served over 360 students. As the program began to increased in size Tiffany created the team assignments to ensure that students maintain a close-knit community regardless of how big the program grows.
T-PREP has three teams: The Sapphire team which is made up of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences majors, the Emerald team which includes Mechanical Engineering & Materials Sciences majors, and the Ruby Team which serves Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, Nuclear Engineering, and all of our Engineering Sciences majors. The gemstones approach results in students remaining in cohorts beyond the duration of the summer program and promotes mentoring from previous T-PREP participants. Why the jewels theme? Because all of our T-PREP students are Gems!
