Part I

Filter your product and rinse the reaction flask with saturated NaCl solution.

The video shows a Hirsch funnel seated in a filter flask via a rubber adapter. The filter flask is held in midair above the lab bench by a clamp. The arm of the filter flask has been fitted into a thick plastic tube that extends off screen. The red-orange contents of a small Erlenmeyer flask are poured into the Hirsch funnel. Most of the contents are deep red liquid and flow directly into the filter flask below. These surface of the liquid in the filter flask pulsates as if under vacuum. What remains in the Hirsch funnel is a small pile of bright orange, clay-like solids and a white magnetic stir bar. The Erlenmeyer flask reappears and is swirled, apparently containing a rinse of some kind. This rinse is added to the Hirsch funnel, most of which flows through to the filter flask below.

Allow the solids to air-dry, then record the mass of of your product.
