Add the coupling agent to your diazonium mixture and let mixture warm to room temperature.

The video shows a test tube containing a boiling stick sitting in a large plastic tub filled with ice. A gloved hand lifts the test tube out of the ice, and we see that it also contains a small portion of transparent yellow solution. A pipette is used to transfer this solution to a nearby Erlenmeyer flask, which is itself sitting in a medium beaker filled with ice water on a magnetic stir plate. While the contents of the Erlenmeyer flask appear clear (or not visible through the ice water) initially, upon the addition of the test tube solution, the flask’s contents instantly turn dark reddish brown. The remaining test tube solution is added dropwise, and the dial on the stir plate is turned to initiate mixing in the Erlenmeyer flask. The screen goes black except for a caption that reads: “Remove from ice bath and allow reaction to proceed at room temperature for 10 min…” Next we see the Erlenmeyer flask clamped in midair above the magnetic stir plate, outside of the ice water beaker. Its contents, a dark red slurry, are being stirred with a boiling stick.

Boil the mixture for 2 minutes.
