Obtain 12 M HCl on ice and add the dissolved amine to the acid.

The video shows a laboratory scale next to a plastic tub full of ice. The metal cover on the scale platform is removed and a small Erlenmeyer flask is placed on the scale. The scale’s reading is reset to zero, and a metal scoopula is used to add two small portions of ice to the flask. The metal cover is replaced and we see that the scale’s screen reads “1.422 g.” The next shot is a close-up on the middle part of a glass buret containing a portion of clear liquid. The bottom of the liquid’s meniscus lies on the 43.00 mL marking. The shot pans to show the bottom of the buret, where the small Erlenmeyer flask of ice is being held underneath the stopcock. The stopcock is turned gradually to the vertical position and back into the horizontal position, at which point the shot pans back to the upper part of the buret, where we see the meniscus now lies on the 43.45 mL marking. Next we see the Erlenmeyer flask sitting inside a larger plastic tub of ice next to the magnetic stir plate where the round bottom flask of deep reddish-orange liquid is stirring, also on ice. The contents of the round bottom flask are pipetted into the Erlenmeyer flask gradually, with a glass stirring rod used to mix the contents of the Erlenmeyer flask between each delivery. The Erlenmeyer flask is lifted out of the ice to reveal that it now contains a small portion of transparent red liquid, and the magnetic stir bar is transferred from the round bottom flask to the Erlenmeyer flask. The Erlenmeyer flask is placed in the beaker on the magnetic stir plate and more ice is added to said beaker by a gloved hand.
