The Stone Center is excited to announce research scholarships to three graduate students in the Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management: Amy Fingerle, McKalee Steen, and Raphaela Buzbee!.
Part of our mission at the Stone Center is to help train students in order to cultivate current and future generations of conservation leaders. Amy and Raphaela's research supports conservation in the Klamath River basin: Amy is working to addresses data gaps that are critical to conserving spring-run Chinook, while Raphaela is investigating how recent dam removals affect or alter riparian vegetation and the quality of basketry materials for Karuk cultural practitioners. McKalee's research analyzes where and how US Indigenous communities are reclaiming terriority, and the social and ecological impacts of those land aquisitions, with partners.
Congratulations to the awardees, and thank you for your leadership!
