The Berkeley Math REU is a research experience to help undergraduates get a taste of mathematical research, or research-adjacent experiences. It is aimed at students who have not had previous research experience.
Participants will be mentored by Berkeley graduate students on a project related to current themes in math research. The topics will be on algebra, number theory, and geometry. The work will involve a combination of learning, doing exercises, and exploring new topics.
Each day, participants will gather in groups of 4-5 peers along with their mentors. Furthermore, each week there will be workshops, panels, and talks given by the PIs, where participants will have learn more practical skills, such as giving mathematics talks and applying to graduate school. Lastly, students will deliver a short presentation on their summer achievements.
Here is a list of the graduate student mentors:
Fangu Chen
Seewoo Lee
Hanson Hao
Connor James Halleck-Dube
Ansuman Chandra Bardalai
Will Booth Fisher
