RTG Research Workshop

Dates: April 30 - May 4, 2018.

Purpose: The purpose of the workshop is to bring together students and faculty for a week of focused activity to learn about new developments and research areas. The workshop will have lecture series in the mornings and discussion/problem solving sessions in the afternoons in small groups.

Topics: The morning lecture series are as follows:

• Robert Guralnick (University of Southern California): Permutation representations with applications in arithmetic algebraic geometry
• Max Lieblich (University of Washington): Recent progress on the Tate conjectures.
• Pham Tiep (Rutgers University): Linear representations and applications to number theory and geometry.

• Tuesday (in 740 Evans): 9:30-10:30 Guralnick, 11-12 Lieblich.
• Wednesday (in 1015 Evans): 9:30-10:30 Tiep, 11-12 Lieblich.
• Thursday (in 740 Evans): 9:30-10:30 Guralnick, 11-12 Lieblich.
• Friday (1015 Evans): Presentations by the working groups 10-11:30.
