No! Reflejos del Sol welcomes any current UC Berkeley student who is interested about learning traditional Mexican folk dance. Our group offers two practice groups: a Beginner's group and a Performance (Intermediate/Advanced) group. 

Students are encouraged to attend the group(s) that best suit their comfort level. 

For our Beginner's Class, there are no tryouts! Any current UC Berkeley student is welcome to join any point in the year.

For our Performance Group, since it's a greater commitment and a more advanced class, we do have auditions at the beginning of the semesters for anyone interested in joining. Anyone is welcome to audition! Attendance in this group is also mandatory throughout the semester. 

Shoes are not required for Beginner's practice. However, Folklorico shoes are required in order to perform, and are thus required for dancers in the Performance Group practice. 

Our groups is always eager to learn dances from a variety of regions in Mexico! These are the regions we currently have costumes for: 

• Jalisco

• Sinaloa

• Veracruz

• Polka

• Guerrero

• Michoacán

• Yucatán 

• Tamaulipas

• Tierra Caliente

*Costumes are provided by our organization! Students will NOT have to purchase their own. Donations are always welcome to help fund for more costumes :)
