I am a PhD candidate in the linguistics department at UC Berkeley. My primary interests are in the relation between language and cognition, writing systems/written language, and how pressures of communicative efficiency shape language. Additional interests include sound symbolism and non-arbitrariness in language, as well as phonology and the psycholinguistics of reading and literacy. I employ computational and statistical/information theoretic methods for much of my work. 

I'm advised by Terry Regier, and am a member of UC Berkeley's Language & Cognition lab.
