Hello! I'm Nancy (she/her), a fourth-year PhD candidate in the Department of Mathematics at UC Berkeley. I am advised by Michael Hutchings. I took my Qualifying Examination in the 2024 Spring semester. I am also a GSI for MATH 55. Before attending Berkeley, I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Edinburgh and obtained a master's from Trinity College, University of Cambridge.
My interests lie in solving problems in low-dimensional topology via symplectic geometry. I really like knots. Currently, I'm working on Legendrian unknotting problems.
You can reach me by email at nm.eagles@berkeley.edu or in my office, located at 869 Evans Hall.
For a snapshot of the kind of math I like, take a look at my slides from a talk I recently gave!
