NYC Parking
This project pursues the topic of parking on sidewalks and in crosswalks surrounding NYPD station houses. It combines in-person observation of all 77 NYPD station houses with review of historical street imagery to document the chronic nature of this obstructive parking. This resulted in the following publication in the peer-reviewed journal Transportation Research Interdisciplinary Perspectives:
In Spring, 2024, the United States Department of Justice issued a Letter of Findings to the New York City Police Department regarding the widespread practice of vehicles parking on sidewalks and in crosswalks. The letter, available at the link below, cites this study:
