I'm a first-generation undergraduate student with Mexican-Honduran roots studying Aerospace Engineering at UC Berkeley's College of Engineering (Class of 2028). I'm proud to be part of the first cohorts of Aerospace Engineering majors since the program launched in Fall 2022.
Growing up in the Bay Area, I was surrounded by STEM, but it was building robots that sparked my passion for engineering. That curiosity evolved into an interest in aerospace, particularly space exploration, flight, and materials science. Beyond engineering, I value giving back to the people who have supported me and following through on my commitments. Those experiences have shaped the way I approach every project—with curiosity, accountability, and a willingness to learn. These qualities have helped shape the person I am today and led me to study at the nation's #1 public university.
I'm looking to bring that mindset to opportunities where I can continue learning, build meaningful solutions, and contribute to the future of aerospace.

The Gates Scholarship - Cohort VII
Funded by the Gates Foundation and in collaboration with the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, The Gates Scholarship is one of the most prestigious and selective scholarship programs for outstanding high school seniors in the United States. Each year, just 300 student leaders are selected nationwide as Gates Scholars out of a pool of +60,000 applicants. I was selected in April 2024, which helped fund my studies at UC Berkeley for up to 5 years.

Founded in 1975, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) is one of the nation's leading organizations supporting Hispanic students in higher education, having awarded over $756 million in scholarships to more than 65,000 Scholars to date. Each year, HSF selects 10,000 outstanding students nationwide as HSF Scholars, providing not only financial support but access to mentorship, career services, and leadership development. I was selected as an HSF Scholar in January 2025.

UC Berkeley EOP - TRIO SSS-STEM Scholar
TRIO Student Support Services–STEM (SSS-STEM) is a federally funded program through the U.S. Department of Education that provides cohort-based support to a select group of roughly 120 EOP STEM students at UC Berkeley - a small fraction of the broader EOP STEM community. As an SSS STEM Scholar, I have access to an academic counselor for advising, workshops, priority access to tutoring and campus programming, financial aid support, and fully funded cultural visits each semester. Selection into the program is invitation-only, based on meeting criteria as a first-generation, low-income student in a declared or intended STEM major.

Pacific Gas & Electric - Better Together STEM Scholar
Awarded by the PG&E Foundation through Scholarship America, this is a merit-based scholarship recognizing outstanding students pursuing a STEM field. I was selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants to receive a one-time $10,000 award, split evenly across two semesters at UC Berkeley, to support education-related expenses. I was honored to receive this scholarship in my freshman year at UC Berkeley in 2024.

Earned through a joint program between UC Berkeley's Hispanic Engineers and Scientists (HES), Black Engineers and Scientists Student Association (BESSA), and the College of Engineering. The program covered core career skills - including crafting an elevator pitch, interviewing, and job offer negotiation - culminating in a Capstone evening where I demonstrated these skills directly to industry professionals and alumni. I got a stronger sense of how to carry myself in professional and industry settings.

The Maker Design Studio is a hands-on design and innovation program within UC Berkeley's Pre-Engineering Program (PREP), where incoming engineering students work in teams to rapidly ideate, design, and prototype solutions using a Sprint-based process. My team's project - a solution to improve the transportation of human organs for transplant - was judged by College of Engineering faculty and industry partners at the program's final Design Expo, where my team was awarded the Biggest Impact Award for exceptional problem-solving and real-world potential in 2024.

Shortly after being named a Gates Scholar and Valedictorian of my high school graduating class, I was interviewed and featured by Mt. Diablo Unified School District to share my story. The feature highlighted my path as a first-generation Latino student, learning to grow more confident and put myself out there to reach my goals.

After completing my freshman year, I embarked on an adventure studying abroad in Italy during the summer of 2025. Following the experience, I was interviewed by Berkeley's Study Abroad department to share my story as an engineering student, proving that studying abroad is possible within a demanding STEM curriculum.
