China will investigate people's marital status in the census and form relevant data. This survey was conducted in three censuses in 2000, 2010 and 2020. This project will try to find more objective and universal facts about marriage from these data.
The data comes from the fifth, sixth and seventh censuses conducted in 2000, 2010 and 2020 respectively.

At most ages, the majority of the population is married. Getting married and starting a family is still the destination for the vast majority of people in China.
22-30 years old is the age group where the proportion of unmarried people is declining rapidly. Among them, the proportion of women who are not married after the age of 26 begins to fall below 50%, while the proportion of men who are not married after the age of 28 begins to fall below 50%.
The proportion of the population in a divorced state is very small, and the proportion will be higher after the age of 35 to 50.
The proportion of people who are widowed becomes more obvious after the age of 60, among which the proportion of widowed elderly women is significantly higher than that of elderly men.
