Gilda Gonzales became CEO of Planned Parenthood Northern
California (PPNorCal) on June 5, 2017. She is the first Latina to
serve as CEO of a California Planned Parenthood affiliate. Ms.
Gonzales initially joined PPNorCal in February 2014 as Senior
VP of External Affairs.
Prior to PPNorCal, Ms. Gonzales served as CEO of The Unity
Council - a non-profit organization advancing social and
economic equity for residents in central East Oakland. She has
a long history of public and community service having served
in leadership positions in Oakland City Hall for 14 years, three
years as legislative staff in the California State Assembly and
also served as Board member of the Port of Oakland
Commission and Alameda County’s First 5 Commission.
Currently, she is a member of the national Planned
Parenthood Federation of America Board.

The Permanente Medical Group (TPMG)
Lawrence Hamilton is the executive administrative leader of The Permanente Medical Group (TPMG). TPMG comprises 55k people, including 10k physicians, who deliver comprehensive care for 1 in 60 people in the US. The Permanente Medical Groups partner with Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals to make up Kaiser Permanente (KP). KP members have 33% lower cardiac mortality and 20% lower cancer mortality. KP achieves this at lower cost for the communities we serve. TPMG supports 19 Residencies, 18 Fellowships, and includes the KP School of Allied Health Sciences, a fully accredited university. The TPMG Division of Research is the largest health research organization outside of government and universities. Lawrence is focused on systematically turning TPMG’s strategy into high performance by advancing learning and continuous performance improvement. He has accountability for TPMG’s 46k employees, directly supports the Chief Administrative and Regional Administrative Officers, Employee HR, Nursing & Clinical Practice, the KP School of Allied Health Sciences, Equity, Inclusion & Diversity, Consulting Services, Technology Group, Innovation, Division of Research, and is joint sponsor of the Administrative Fellowship Program.
Lawrence is also Honorary Professor of Practice at the Global Business School for Health, University College London. Prior to his current role, Lawrence served in leadership roles at regional and local levels in KP's Northern California and Mid-Atlantic regions for the Medical Group and Kaiser Foundation Health Plan since 2005. Before his work at KP, Lawrence spent five years as the CEO of Aga Khan Health Service, Tanzania, worked with the UK National Health Service (NHS) as Deputy CEO of NorthWest London NHS Hospitals Trust, and was partner of a health care consulting company. He studied Philosophy, Politics & Economics at the University of Oxford, and completed the UK NHS General Management Training Program, the INSEAD Advanced Management Program and the Harvard Business School Executive Leadership Program.

Kimberly MacPherson is the Executive Director of Health Management at the Haas School of Business and Faculty Program Director for Health Policy & Management at UC Berkeley School of Public Health. She directs the MBA/MPH program, the two year MPH in HPM program, a one-year MPH for clinicians and the MPP/MPH offered with the Goldman School of Public Policy. She is also the Co-Director for the Berkeley Center for Health Technology (BCHT) which focuses on research and education around the key theme of the need to balance affordability and innovation. At UC Berkeley where she joined the faculty in 2006, MacPherson teaches a variety of graduate level courses at both Haas and SPH including Health Care Finance, Healthcare in the 21st Century, Trends in Biotech/Pharma, Commercializing Biotech, and Unlocking Digital Health Innovation. MacPherson brings over 20 years of health industry experience spanning leadership roles in operations, management consulting and strategic/business planning and product development. She is a frequent speaker and moderator at conferences and organization-sponsored meetings/events. She is a member of the Board of Trustees for St. Francis Memorial Hospital (part of Dignity Health) in San Francisco. She holds an MBA from the Berkeley Haas and an MPH from the School of Public Health at UC Berkeley.

Previously, Matt led Strategy and Operations teams at Google and advised Fortune 500 companies in pharma, aerospace, and fintech as a manager at McKinsey. He started his career as a Product Manager and Presidential Management Fellow in the U.S. Department of Defense Chemical and Biological Defense Program. Matt holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a B.S from Iowa State University.

He has held several roles in the biotech space, including Swanson Fellow at The Column Group, and Expert in Residence at the Berkeley Life Sciences Entrepreneurship Center. Previously, Yao worked in product management for NVIDIA’s AI systems, shaping bundle solutions and reference architectures for self-driving cars, telecommunications, and big data analytics industries. Outside of NVIDIA, Yao has founded a few startups in various areas including healthcare insurance, and more.
