Dr. Sophi Martin is the Innovation Director at UC Berkeley's Blum Center for Developing Economies, where she mentors and teaches students, faculty, social startups, and entrepreneurs the skills needed to grow their social impact. An expert in technology scaling strategies, Dr. Martin designs and leads innovation "bootcamps" with academic institutions, mission-oriented enterprises, and government agencies. She is the staff lead for UC Berkeley's new Development Engineering program; an interdisciplinary research-based training program that transforms development projects with new technologies and approaches. From 2010 to 2014, Sophi worked for the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in corporate relations and research administration.
Sophi holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering and a B.S. in Engineering Physics, both from UC Berkeley.
Lieutenant Colonel Rosenbaum is the Commander of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 085, and Professor and Chair of the Department of Aerospace Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to this role, he served as a U.S. Defense and Air Attaché and Individual Reservist assigned to the Defense Attaché Service, Washington. There he advised US Ambassadors and country teams in Africa on military issues while representing the US Secretary of Defense, Secretary of the Air Force, and Chief of Staff of the Air Force to their host nation counterparts when deployed. He has served overseas supporting Operations Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and Juniper Micron.
LtCol Rosenbaum holds a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Boston University, a MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia, and professional certifications in Project Management, Change Management, and Design Thinking.
As a civilian, he is a senior management and technology consultant specializing in corporate strategy and innovation in the areas of Cybersecurity, Analytics, and Computer Vision.
