Water & Carbon Lab

Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering

UC Berkeley

We are a team of hydrologists and ecohydrologists interested in understanding the links between the water and carbon cycles at various temporal and spatial scales. The lab is based at UC Berkeley in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and is led by Prof. Cynthia Gerlein-Safdi. Our group uses an array of methods including remote sensing (GNSS-R, microwaves, satellite-based SIF), lab techniques (stable isotopes of water), and fieldwork to track the fluxes of water and carbon throughout various types of ecosystems.
