Commitment to diversity

As a Latina in science and engineering, I aim to promote and encourage minority students who might have a difficult time finding mentors they can see themselves in. As a postdoc at the University of Michigan, I have strived to foster a more inclusive workspace as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion chair of the University of Michigan Postdoctoral Association. I have also been an active member of the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science, supporting the society's goals with judging and reviewing tasks for many years. Finally, as the deputy chair of the Ecohydrology Technical Committee for the American Geophysical Union, I have been working to engage early-career scientists at AGU and offer opportunities for first-time AGU attendees to engage with senior scientists. I am now continuing this mission as the AGU early career representative for the 2022 Frontiers in Hydrology Program Committee, promoting an inclusive conference for all hydrologists.
