Fight wildfires with data, not desperation
As climate change continues to intensify, the need to proactively prepare for wildfires has never been more critical. We hope to empower communities and organizations to take a forward-thinking approach to wildfire protection, ensuring preparedness and resilience in the face of increasing fire risks.
Wildfires have become a persistent global challenge, with increasing frequency, severity, and impact due to factors such as climate change, prolonged droughts, and expanding human activity into fire-prone areas. These events threaten human lives, property, infrastructure, and ecosystems, causing billions of dollars in economic damage and irreversible ecological loss each year. Current wildfire management systems, such as NASA's FIRMS, provide real-time detection of active fires. However, this reactive approach only identifies fires after they have started, leaving fire managers with limited time to allocate resources effectively or prevent further damage. Additionally, these systems do not offer predictive insights about where fires are likely to ignite, despite the availability of environmental data that can provide valuable context for fire risk.
We present FireGuard! An innovative tool designed to inform users of active and future wild fire risks. This soultion uses AI technology to assess environmental information to predict the likelyhood of wildfire occurence.
Communities can use this tool to assess risk of active fire threats in their neighbourhoods.
We leverage AI technology to empower community leaders and officials to enact precautionary measures for at risk areas.
