Place test tube “1” under the column, then carefully filter the Excedrin solution through the pipette filter directly onto the top of the column.
Use the rubber bulb to drain the solvent level down to the top of the silica. Rinse the centrifuge tube and the sides of the column with 0.5 mL portions of ethyl acetate, drain, then add another 0.5 mL ethyl acetate to the column. Drain after each 0.5 mL addition. This first 1.5 mL of solvent will be fraction 1.
