Hi! My name is Daphne Feijoo. I’m an international Student from Peru. I'm currently a rising senior at UC Berkeley. I’m an Economics and Data Science major — I just declared Data a couple of weeks ago! A fun fact about me is that I can speak German since I went to a German boarding school my whole life. I’m interested in any topics related to economics and COVID-19, which is why I think this final project will be amazing to do, and I can’t wait for the final result!
Hi, I’m Minka Nagy! I’m a rising 4th year international student from Hungary studying Economics and Data Science. A fun fact about me is that I love LEGOs and I have a massive collection at home and I started building some in Berkeley too :) COVID-19 had a large impact on my life, and our research question is something I had wondered myself during that time, so I think this topic would be very interesting to explore. I am very excited to work on this project and hopefully gain a better perspective on the issue.
Hello! My name is Fouad Sinno, and I'm a rising third-year student studying Computer Science and Data Science. Having lived in Lebanon for the first 18 years of my life, it wasn't until the last few years before going to UC Berkeley to complete my undergraduate degree when I started to discover the importance of data. Now, I am looking forward to analyzing data coming from a crucial point in history, in this project!
Hello! My name is Mohamed Ganda, and I am a rising third-year student at UC Berkeley studying Data Science with a possible double major in Cog Sci. A fun fact about me is I hiked the Atlas Mountains this last December and had the opportunity to see the majority of Morocco in a hot air balloon! As others have mentioned, COVID-19 had a significant impact on my life, which led me to join this team that also had similar ideas to answer the big questions that popped up in our heads.
Hi! My name is Andrew Mai. I am a rising senior, and I'm majoring in Chemical Engineering and minoring in Data Science. A fun fact about me is that I love to play volleyball and thrift. What motivated me to contribute this the project is my passion for healthcare. After college, I plan to venture into the pharmaceutical industry, hoping to find ways to better treat and prevent diseases like COVID-19. For our project, I primarily focused on creating and analyzing the two line plot visualizations of COVID-19 mortalities and vaccinations by ethnicity over time. Furthermore, I was a writing contributor in the narrative, data critique and bibliography sections.
My name is Faris Raza, and I just finished my first year at UC Berkeley! I am still figuring out my interests, but I am passionate about computational biology and healthcare, hence my enthusiasm for our project! Beyond biology, I have been a(n association) football fan for most of my life, and the team I support both now and when I first became a fan is Chelsea! In fact, something I found out after supporting Chelsea is that I was born on the club’s 100th anniversary date!
Hello! I'm Luqman Elbakri, a student at UC Berkeley studying Business Administration and Data Science. Originally from Palestine, I've developed a keen interest in leveraging data to address community and global issues. A fun fact about me is that I'm fluent in Arabic, English, and conversational in Spanish. Through the nonprofit I founded, I managed mobile vaccine clinics in the Bay Area in collaboration with FEMA, state, and local governments, which heightened my interest in public health disparities. This experience inspires my current project focus—analyzing correlations between race, death rates, and vaccination rates. I’m excited to dive into this research, hoping it can inform and improve health outcomes in diverse communities.
