Ammonia is a respiratory irritant.
Use a gas trap to reduce your exposure.
When sampling the reaction mixture, avoid placing your face directly above the reaction flask.
Palladium on carbon (Pd/C) is a hazardous substance.
Use separate weigh paper for Pd/C and ammonium formate; when mixed, the combination can produce explosive hydrogen gas.
Submerge items contaminated with Pd/C in water; dry Pd/C can ignite when exposed to air.
