Schedule

Summer 2024 Update: The Greek Workshop will be conducted in person in Berkeley. There will be no online option for this course.

Schedule overview:

The Greek Workshop is divided into two parts. In both Part I and Part II, students attend two 3-hour class sessions each day, one in the morning and, after a lunch break, one in the afternoon.

Part I:

The first six weeks of the course offer a comprehensive introduction to Attic Greek by working through Hansen and Quinn's Greek: An Intensive Course. In the morning session students review homework and practice material learned the previous day through a variety of individual and group exercises. Quizzes are also administered in these sessions. In the afternoon session, the director presents new material to be studied and prepared for the following day.

Part II:

The last four weeks are dedicated to reading works of Greek literature in the original. Students read one prose, and one poetry work during these weeks. Each day, students attend two reading sessions, prose in the morning session, and poetry in the afternoon session. Note: the works offered in the 2024 workshop will be announced in June 2024.
