She has taught Methods and Math for Elementary School Teachers at SJSU, CSUMB, and Santa Clara University. She is a retired middle school teacher and principal. She also served as a district math coach for grades K-8.

Her research interests focus on the teaching and learning of mathematics for special needs students.

Her research interests in mathematics education include gender and mathematics, professional development of mathematics teachers, and classroom coaching. She has been conducting research on gender issues in mathematics since the late 70s.
Emily Slusser

Dr. Slusser is a faculty member in the Department of Child and Adolescent Development at San José State University. She teaches a range of courses on child development and early childhood education, including courses on quantitative analysis and program evaluation. Dr. Slusser engages in several lines of research on cognitive and conceptual development and, in partnership with the Early Childhood Institute at SJSU, disseminates findings among educators, providers, and other stakeholders in the early childhood community.
Karen Mayfield-Ingram

Karen Mayfield-Ingram, Director of Oakland Urban Teacher Residency and the Associate Director, EQUALS and FAMILY MATH programs at the Lawrence Hall of Science. Her work focuses on mathematics and equity professional development, teacher leadership, and parent involvement. She is the author of The Journey— Through Middle School Math and was the co-editor for the Families Ask column for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Her most recent publication The Impact of Identity in K-8 Mathematics Learning and Teaching: Rethinking Equity-based Practices is widely used by designers of professional growth experiences for teachers and school leaders.
Emiliano Gomez

Emiliano studied mathematics and chemistry at the University of Maryland, and then went to graduate school at UC Berkeley, where he finished his PhD in mathematics in 2000. Since 2001 he has been the site director for MDTP at UC Berkeley, where he also lectures in the Department of Mathematics and works as the mathematician in residence for the Lawrence Hall of Science. He has designed and led many professional development workshops for K-12 mathematics teachers and has also organized and presented sessions at several assessment conferences for mathematics educators.
Harold Asturias

is the director of the Center for Mathematics Excellence and Equity (CeMEE) at the Lawrence Hall of Science; a science center located at the University of California, Berkeley. He has extensive experience providing professional development in the areas of standards and assessment in mathematics for teachers in large urban districts (Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City) and smaller and rural districts. Over the past few years he has focused in the area of designing and implementing professional development for K-12 mathematics teachers who teach English Language Learners.
