Getting to Berkeley
Those flying to the San Francisco Bay area should fly into either San Francisco International Airport (SFO) or Oakland International Airport (OAK). OAK is closer to Berkeley, but smaller.
Taxis and Lyft/ Uber are available at both airports (about $60-$80 from SFO and about $30-$45 from OAK). The local train system is known as BART. Every hotel on this page is within a 20 minute walk of the Downtown Berkeley BART stop.
Taking BART
The BART trains are a great option for getting to Berkeley from the airports. Visit this site for information on paying for BART and downloading a Clipper card for your phone, so you can tap-to-pay at the turnstiles.
If you are unfamiliar with the Bay area, we do not recommend taking BART late at night (after 9pm). The trains become less frequent or may be delayed, and ridership decreases.
From SFO: Follow signs to the BART station (depending on your terminal this will mean taking the airport train to the SFO BART stop). Take the Red line north (towards Richmond) to the Downtown Berkeley stop (1 hour ride). Alternatively, can also take the Yellow line north (towards Antioch) and transfer to the Red or Orange lines north (both towards Richmond) at the 19th street stop in Oakland.
From OAK: Follow signs to BART. Take the Oakland airport train to the Coliseum stop it's an obvious airport train that only goes one stop). Take the Orange line north (towards Richmond) to the Downtown Berkeley stop (20-25 minute ride).
