For 2021-2023, I served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Capital Access at the Department of the Treasury, working on industrial strategy, public-private partnerships, net zero principles, and finance for the Transition Economy.

I do research on climate and transition finance, discrimination in financial services and algorithms,  small businesses, corporate governance, and the liability side of household finance.

Together with Professor Laura Tyson, I co-founded the Sustainable and Impact Finance (SAIF) center at UC Berkeley-Haas after teaching New Venture Finance and VC at Berkeley and UChicago-Booth for over a decade.  Creating a fund-as-curriculum model for private markets, I run the Haas Impact Fund (seed investment fund) and the Climate Solutions Fund (other private market investment fund) with MBA partners.
