Are you too good at foosball to play against other humans, or simply have no friends to play with?
Introducing FoosBot - the automatic foosball machine! Foosbot controls the goal keeper of a foosball table to block your shots. With the world cup final around the corner, we thought this would be the perfect project to demonstrate our learning from C106A and create a genuinely fun game to play!
We use computer vision to detect the location of the ball and goal-keeper, and an ESP32 to actuate on a brushed DC motor connected to the goal keeper. Our planning algorythm uses the past position data of the ball to predict where the ball is heading to maximize the effectiveness of our system!
1) Detect ball and goalie using computer vision
2) Actuate on goalie using motor
3) Plan where ball will be in future based off past ball positions
4) Block >75% of shots
Fun!Â
Inspire children to get into STEM with a fun robotics demo!
This could be made into a build-at-home kit for students. You provide students with the electronics components, a wiring diagram and skeleton code to learn about the basics of robotics and CV!
