Parent Library Information

General Library Policies

The library has a wonderful collection of books for our Osage Creek and Creekside community to share. We ask that you care for the books, and remember that many other people will enjoy the book after you.

Thank you for treating our books with care, but even when we are very careful, accidents happen. I take books with me everywhere I go.  I have had accidents and had to pay to replace a book before.

Books are important, but students are more important than books!

FAQs

How many books may I check out?

Students may check out the number that they believe they need to keep them busy reading for two weeks.

How often may I visit the library?

Students visit the library bi-weekly during a scheduled check-out time.   Students may also come in before school, during lunch or after school.  Cardinals may also ask to visit the library during class as time allows.

What if my book is overdue?

Books have a two-week loan period for students unless it is a class book.  (Class texts have a longer loan period. ) Families will get an email reminder.  At that point, students may choose to return the book to the library or renew their book for another two weeks.  Students may renew a book as long as it is not on hold for another patron.

What happens if I damage a book?

Please let an adult know if you damage a book.  It happens! We will do our best to repair the book.  If we cannot repair the book, you will be responsible for replacing the book.  You may purchase a new copy and bring it to school or you may pay the replacement cost.  If it is a hardship on your family to replace the book, please contact Mrs. Moss for additional options.

What if I lose a book?

Please let an adult know if you lose a book.  Look everywhere first!  Books are frequently found under beds, in cars, and in backpacks.  They also hide out in cubbies and sometimes even in a teacher's lost and found.  Ask your teachers to check.  If your book is really lost, you may be asked to replace it.
