W.7.2 Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas, concepts, and information through the selection, organization, and analysis of relevant content.
* Continue expository writing with emphasis on elaboration techniques.
RL/RI.7.1 Site the evidence from the reading that most strongly supports an analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text.
*Write PEA(EAEA) paragraphs with emphasis on multiple pieces of evidence and strong analysis.
RL.7.2 Determine the theme of a text and analyze its development over the course of the text.
*Master PEAEA theme analysis paragraph to explain theme and its development based on either characterization or conflict.
RI.7.5 Analyze the structure an author uses to organize a text including how specific sections contribute to the whole and the development of ideas.
* Isolate paragraphs or sections of informational text and discuss purpose.
* Analyze text structure of paragraphs or sections to see how structure relates to ideas presented.
* Connect purpose and perspectives presented in paragraphs or sections to central idea of the text.
RI.7.6 Determine the author’s perspective and determine a purpose for writing.
*Discuss and determine audience and purpose for each informational text.
*Analyze word choice/tone and selected details (what is put in and what is left out) to determine author’s perspective.
* Write PEA paragraphs explaining author’s perspective.
