The Colt Connection
The Colt Connection
Happy October, Centerton Gamble families!
It’s hard to believe we’re already nearing the end of the first quarter. We’ve loved seeing our students settle into their routines, build friendships, and grow as learners. October will bring field trips, fall class parties, parent-teacher conferences, and a well-deserved fall break. Conferences are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate your child’s progress and talk together about the months ahead. Thank you for the support you give our students and staff each day. We’re looking forward to a fun and memorable month!
Coffee with Mr. Hunt
Centerton Gamble Elementary families are invited to join us to connect, collaborate, and enjoy an informal conversation together—Coffee with Mr. Hunt!
This relaxed gathering will provide families an opportunity to ask questions, learn more about our school, curriculum, upcoming events, and other topics important to our CGE community. We also encourage you to submit questions or requests for information ahead of time so we can make each meeting meaningful and beneficial for all stakeholders. To help us know how many CGE Stakeholders to expect (and have enough coffee for!), please take a moment to RSVP for our event on October 22nd from 8-9 AM in the Cafeteria. Hope to see you soon!
Mark your calendars! Our fall class parties will take place on Friday, October 30th. Party times for each grade level will be shared in the coming weeks, so watch for more details.
We will also celebrate with our annual costume parade for students and staff only. We look forward to a fun day filled with school spirit and fall festivities!
Veteran's Day Assembly
CGE is proud to continue our tradition of having third-grade students lead our Veterans Day program on November 11. Third-grade families and all veterans are invited to attend as we honor those who have served our country.
We are also creating Veterans Day slideshows for each grade level to view in their classrooms. Families are invited to submit a photo of a veteran their child knows—a family member, friend, or neighbor—using the Google Form linked below. These photos help students learn what it means to be a veteran and celebrate the special connections within our school community.
Thank you for helping us recognize and celebrate our veterans!

In Kindergarten, we’ll be learning about Helen Keller for their five senses CKLA unit and how our names are spelt in Braille and ASL. In 1st-4th grades we’ll be practicing the “neighborhoods” of the library by playing “yellow brick road.” Our book fair is coming up Oct 19-30, please consider volunteering. A signup genius will be sent out soon. - Mrs. Wall
October is a month full of fun! We build on our underhand throwing from September and learn to play horseshoes and bocce ball. We also play one of our all time favorite games, Haunted House - spooky music and strobe lights make this game a fan favorite! If your child doesn’t know how to ride a bike, now is the perfect time to get them outside and practice! - Coach Neisler and Coach Witcher
This month we will continue working through our keyboarding and tech quest paths in learning.com, where students will learn more about proper keyboarding skills, online safety, and being an excellent digital citizen. Towards the end of the month we will be completing a “Build a Jack-o-lantern” activity in google slides, and creating a story to go with it. - Mrs. Mullinax
Happy October!
Kindergarten students will draw pumpkins nestled in a wagon, practice how to draw pumpkins, and create a glowing “City at Night” collage full of windows.
First Grade students will learn how to draw a wise owl, create festive pumpkins, and design friendly scarecrows ready for the fall season.
Second Grade students will explore outer space by making their own galaxies, draw and color a beautiful fall tree landscape, and create abstract pumpkin artworks bursting with color and patterns.
Third Grade students will participate in the Natural State Ornament Contest, design a front cover for The Wind in the Willows as a fun literacy connection, and practice perspective while drawing dimensional pumpkins.
Fourth Grade students will also join the Natural State Ornament Contest and create striking faux stained-glass pieces using black glue for bold outlines and vibrant color. - Mrs. Potts
In Kindergarten and 1st grade, we are learning about steady beats. 2nd grade is learning about strong and weak beats and starting to prepare for their Christmas program. Veteran’s Day is coming in November, and 3rd grade is learning several patriotic songs to lead our Veteran’s day program. In 4th grade, we are reviewing different rhythms that we have learned about last year and getting ready to start center activities in class.

We are thrilled to share all the exciting hands-on science, engineering, and fall learning activities our elementary students are engaged in this month across every grade level.
Kindergarten: Students will embrace their roles as engineers by exploring the inventions and technologies they see in the world around them. They will apply what they learn to design, create, and test their own inventions.
1st Grade: Students will continue to develop their skills as engineers by designing and creating solutions to real-world problems. Through hands-on STEAM challenges, students will plan, build, test, and communicate their ideas as they create different inventions to solve various problems.
2nd Grade: Students will supplement their classroom learning by exploring what plants and animals need to survive and how animals use adaptations to meet their needs. Through hands-on investigations, students will examine animal adaptations and design their own animal using what they have learned.
3rd Grade: Students will supplement their classroom learning by exploring how plants and animals grow, reproduce, and depend on one another to survive. Through hands-on investigations and modeling, students will explore life cycles, inherited traits, and how traits can vary among individuals of the same species.
4th Grade: Students will support their classroom learning by exploring how the brain processes information and helps us respond to the world around us. Through interactive activities and hands-on model building, students will investigate how information is received, processed, and used to guide actions in both humans and animals.
Keep exploring, Mrs. Musial
Our Big Idea this month is October, which is choosing to be truthful in whatever you say and do.

October Guidance Lessons
Throughout October, students in kindergarten through fourth grade will participate in age-appropriate lessons on bullying/cyberbullying prevention and empathy. We will explore the differences between rude behavior, mean behavior, and bullying, while learning how our words and actions affect others. Students will also practice being upstanders—helping someone who is being mistreated, speaking up safely, and asking a trusted adult for help.
