What is a wish tree?

A wish tree is a tree that has been chosen and is used as an object of wishes and offerings. These trees are thought of to possess special spiritual value. People come to these trees to have their wishes granted, or a prayer heard. People make their offerings by hanging colorful ribbons or tying pieces of fabrics to the trees. Often they will write their wishes on small pieces of paper and hang them from the tree. Wishing trees can be found in many cultures around the world and the rituals of the trees differ from one country to the next as well. The one thing that these trees have in common is that people use the trees to reconnect with what truly matters to them.
