The best kind of discipline is self-discipline. This occurs when students know and follow the rules and is my main goal this year. This happens the majority of the time. However, when students do not follow the rules, action must be taken, and progressive consequences need to be given.
I will work with students the first week or two of school to establish the expections and rules we should all be following. I want them to feel ownership as we build a classroom community.
Positive Behavior!
I am trying something new this year to recognize positive behavior, but also to strive for student self-discipline. Students should be intrinsically motivated to do their best. In other words, they should follow the rules because it is the right thing to do, not to earn candy or prizes. My goal this year is to recognize and call attention to good behavior and save candy for special occasions. If you'd like to read more, this article is what sparked this change in my philosophy.
Look out for emails from Public School Works with positive documentations. These will also help students earn points for building raffles.

Negative Documentations will be entered into Public School Works, and an email should come to the parent who was set up as the primary contact in Final Forms. If you have questions or need clarification, feel free to reach out.
