Music Department Faculty

The Benjamin Logan Music Department consists of four full-time music faculty.

Myles Bowers - High School Instrumental

Mr. Bowers is in his ninth year as the High School Band Director at Benjamin Logan. He also teaches Jazz Bands/Combos, Music Technology, Music Theory, and American Popular Music classes at the High School. Mr. Bowers received his Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Bluffton University and his Master's degree in Jazz Pedagogy from Capital University. He also serves as President of the Jazz Education Connection of Ohio, leads Bellefontaine's community big band The Fountainaires, and as a performer on trumpet plays regularly with his jazz combo group. Mr. Bowers' professional affiliations include: OMEA (Ohio Music Education Association), JECO (Jazz Education Connection of Ohio), JEN (Jazz Education Network), and ITG (International Trumpet Guild).

Tabetha Sloboda - Middle School Instrumental


Mrs. Sloboda graduated from Marietta College with a Bachelor’s degree for Music Education in May of 2017, and began her teaching career at Benjamin Logan as the Middle School Band Director in August of 2017. Along with teaching band for grades 5-8, Mrs. Sloboda also teaches a Music Technology class for 6th grade and assists with the high school band program. Before arriving at Benjamin Logan, she spent her time working various band camps as a woodwind specialist, playing in musical pit orchestras, and sat as principal chair in the saxophone section for Marietta College’s Wind Ensemble. She currently plays alto saxophone for the Sinclair Community College Concert Band and Wind Symphony.

Michael Dove - Middle School & High School Vocal Music

Mr. Dove graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and has continued graduate work through The University of Florida in Music Education. His principal training has been on the French horn and voice with a background in piano, woodwinds, and guitar performance. He has performed with various ensembles including The Ohio State University Marching Band, Wind Symphony, Men's Glee, Westerville Symphony, and Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corp. Mr. Dove has been the head choral director at Grove City High School and choir director at Hilliard Heritage Middle School where he also directed the musicals, morning news, and taught general music and guitar. He has also been a worship arts minister at churches in Ohio and Georgia where he led and directed vocal, instrumental, drama, tech, and creative visual arts. Mr. Dove has four children with his wife and enjoys woodworking, roller coasters, hiking with his family, and serving at his church.
